Films on Issues of Environmental Concern

Given today’s extensive ecological degradation, it is important for people to reflect and perhaps re-evaluate some of their traditional beliefs and  practices, especially the manner in which they relate to the earth. We find film a useful way of  enabling people to do so and to reflect on the impact of their actions. It has proved to be a powerful way to seed dialogue and initiate action

Thanks to the personal initiative of the of the local people and the authorities, including the DFO of the Government Forest Department, the film Fire On The Mountain  is being extensively shown to villagers in the region to trigger discussion around the problem of forest fires.

Pratibha Says There’s No Water  probes the practice of burning the hill slopes in the quest for fodder and its impact on groundwater resources while Patram Pushpam Toyam examines the once close interconnectedness between religion and man’s sense of caring for the earth.
