This is the story of a girl and her search for a God who is beyond any particular religion. Reshma lives with her brother Noor in a temple town on the banks of River Krishna. Her father is a tourist guide and mother, a traditional Muslim woman. Reshma is fascinated by the true story of Akka Mahadevi, a poetess saint of the 12th century who, intoxicated with her love for God, roamed naked in total disregard to social norms. When fate plays a cruel joke on Reshma and life seems meaningless, she too, decides to seek her own God very much like Akka. Although separated by hundreds of years, the stories of Reshma and Akka are connected through the common backdrop of the Krishna River. They say that Akka found her God in the forests of Kardalivan, Sri Sailam in Andhra Pradesh. Will Reshma find hers? |
